Keyboarding - When someone comes from years of typewriter use to the computer keyboard there are some subtle changes that aren't obvious to people that have only used typewriters.

Internet navigation - Using the address bar, setting a personal home page, learning what to do if a page won't close, filling in Internet forms and safely shopping online.

E-mail - We've found that using the e-mail program, Outlook Express or another e-mail client, is the hardest set of tasks to learn for a beginning computer user. Not only is the navigation in an e-mail program inconsistent (what to single click vs what to double click), but reading, opening attachments, replying to messages, composing new messages and using the address book are daunting. And this to just read and send letters!

Internet research - Using search engines, university and government resources, and news groups to find answers you couldn't get before the Internet became available.
